- Reasons for My Music Diary: 1. Listening to music can be a joy. 2. Listening can be an active or a passive experience. In my ongoing efforts to, "be in this moment" I've decided to write about the music I'm listening to, so I can make sure I'm really, "paying attention" as I listen. 3. I worked with a piano teacher who kept a blog of the various music he listened to. I thought he was quite nifty for diligently writing down what sound waves vibrated in his ear drums. 4. I met a theatre graduate who told me he is too embittered by the theatre scene (likely understandably so) to attend plays. His comment really resonated with me. Over the years my own bitterness about the music scene in Canada (again, likely understandably so) had grown to the point that I could barely listen to other indie artists' music. It was time to at least try to change that, because, as noted above, listening to music can be a joy.
